Richard, we will miss you. My husband and I will never forget the best summer we had riding bikes in the Netherlands—30 miles a day, if you can believe it. I had a wonderful semester with you, discussing the challenges of flooding and water management. I learned so much from you, not just about urban knowledge, but also about your inspiring positive spirit toward life.

Hi Everyone – Ellen Dunham-Jones here with an update on the graduate fellowship in Richard’s name. Georgia Tech will require someone to be the lead donor. I haven’t been able to find out just what that requires. But, in the meantime, anyone who would like to contribute is more than welcome to do so to this page. He will be sorely missed everywhere, but especially at Georgia Tech where he taught for 47 years!! We don’t have emails for all of the students he taught. If you know someone who would want to know about the spring celebration of him, please forward them the link to this page. Josh and I have been fortunate to be neighbors in Apalachicola. We looked forward to the arrival of Richard, Nancy, Jack, and Peach whenever they could visit – and we enjoyed socializing and street conversations often. As a part time resident, Richard had a huge impact on our town. I am sorry he did not get to see the completion of the building on 8th Street, but his work is underway and very much appreciated. Love from Liz….
